Truth or Dare: The Imperial Court
Mar. 15th, 2016 06:14 pmComtesse Simone Farjeon*, 58. Inveterate name-dropper with ties to the Council of Heralds that she is extremely proud of. Tells very long, very dull stories and is almost inescapable once a conversation has begun. Will ask lots of questions about what Duke X or Marquise Y thinks of the Inquisition; cares more about its supporters than its mission.
Marquise Bernadette Charbonnier*, 26. Odette's identical twin. Vivacious and charming, but with a cruel edge to her humor. Constantly condescending to her sister but pretends she's joking. Thinks the whole Inquisition is a bit of a joke and is just here for new gossip, but could be swayed by insightful discussion of economic opportunities.
Lady Odette Charbonnier*, 26, Bernadette's slightly younger identical twin, wants to touch the Qunari/Vashoths' horns but will be slow, shy, giggly, and tipsy about asking. She will be less giggly about telling vicious lies about her sister whenever she's out of earshot. Not entirely above paying someone to assassinate her.
Baroness Marie-Delphine Comeaux*, 35. Here to score. Not picky, but would prefer someone she can blackmail into a financially advantageous relationship if possible. Has been hit hard by the War of the Lions and would be cautiously intrigued by talk of Inquisition intervention. But mostly, scoring.
Marquis Arnot Vaillant*, 43. Spends the whole night waxing rhapsodic about Celestine, the love of his life. As he goes on and on it will only gradually become clear that he is talking about a hunting dog. Wants to hear about the Inquisition's run-ins with dragons and other creatures and little else.
Duke Hugues Pelletier*, 20. Earnest, devout Andrastian who will ask sincere questions about the Inquisition's activities and about the religious beliefs of his company. Probably a virgin. Massive crush on Cassandra, will get blushy and shaky if he can even see her and panic if offered an introduction.
Baron Maurice Daladier*, 39. New money and self-conscious about it. Will be loudly picky about the quality of the wine, and constantly on the look-out for any whiff of disrespect. Takes kindly to even very obvious attempts to suck up to him.
Bann Stefan Vardy, 62. Gruff and reserved, seems skeptical of the Inquisition and on-edge. Sticks to the edges and observes, but can be engaged in conversation by the persistent. Will eventually admit to having been a believer in the Herald, concerned about what the Inquisition will become in her absence, especially with so much Orlesian influence.
Bann Gwyneth Dyer, 28. New to her position and eager to make her mark. Perceptive, intelligent, will ask lots of incisive questions and follow-ups. Not yet ready to commit, but seems a likely ally at least in the fight against Corypheus, and very curious about the Inquisition's broader plans.
Lord Harold Afton, 37. Brother of a bann, sent in his place after last-minute illness. Spends the whole night tugging at his ill-fitting collar and trying to find someone to get him some beer and a pie instead of wine and fancy fowl. Waffles between concerned there's too much Chantry involvement and that the Chantry doesn't approve enough.
Comte Benoît Daucourt *, 53, political nonentity but swimming in money and likely to donate if no one punches him in the face. Likely to try to get people alone for quiet conversations where he is overly familiar and possibly overly tactile, but won't outright harass anyone, probably. Literal skeletons in his literal closet vibe. Even worse about elves than everyone else.
*All Orlesian nobles in attendance are jerks about elves. They will frequently mistake elves in attendance as part of the serving staff.
